SAR Probe for Obscured Targets

SPOT Alpha

Alpha build — parses a complex-float NITF file and runs the SPOT pipeline in a Web Worker on demand.

⚠️ Accepted file shape (strict)
  • Single image segment, uncompressed (IC=NC).
  • Complex float pixels: PVTYPE=C, NBPP=64, ABPP=64, IMODE=P, NBANDS=1 (big-endian binary32 real then imaginary).
  • CMETAA TRE present and populated with WF_CENFRQ, WF_BW, CG_AMPT_X/Y/Z, CG_APCEN_X/Y/Z, IF_RGRES, IF_AZRES.
ℹ️ Performance and memory
  • Power-of-two padding. The FFT engine requires power-of-two axis lengths. Images whose dimensions are not already powers of two are zero-padded to the next power of two in each axis. This increases memory and runtime, and the result may differ slightly from an unpadded version near the edges.
  • Memory is the dominant limit. Peak working set during the pipeline is roughly 5–6× the padded planes. Browsers cap per-tab memory and will abort on large files. The estimate is shown for each file below.
  • Processing runs in a Web Worker, so the UI stays responsive, but the peak memory cost is unchanged.
About SPOT

SPOT operates directly on SAR k-space. It reconstructs scenes from sub-banded k-space regions and applies Coherence Change Detection to exploit a fundamental physical difference: artificial constructs remain coherent across sub-bands, while natural clutter de-correlates rapidly.

Bringing SPOT to the public

1

Develop the algorithm

Build and validate the SPOT exploitation algorithm. The build you are using is the alpha of this step.

2

Public API access

Expose all Complex SAR NITFs carrying the appropriate CMETAA Tagged Record Extension — already parsed by this page.

3

Engage & customize

Work with the community on improvements and mission-specific customizations.

Let's cooperate.

SPOT is a computationally efficient, physics-based answer to a decades-old FOPEN exploitation problem. Contact us to discuss integration, evaluation, or a pilot.
